There is No Future for eBay Watch for Impending Stock Crash
« on: June 28, 2010, 07:03:29 pm »

There is nothing for the future here for eBay due to  these points:

1. There is no discretionary nonsense spending going on.

2. No one is buying unique collectibles like even in 2009.

3. Luxury items are being offered for less on Editors Closet and Gilt.com.

4. Department Stores often undercut on sales, even by 20%.

5. Ebay has hurt their smaller sellers.

6. Buyers no longer routinely leave feedback.

7. Powersellers have been cut for stupid, arbitrary and anti-competitive reasons.

8. As people save more they would rather pay cash than paypal or credit cards, and do so at stores.

9. Many have lost traditional credit cards and are only left with Macy's cards, JC Penny and Sears.

10. Used cars are being sold locally and can be checked out easier - especially those coming off lease and by repos. Furthermore, with all of the natural disasters in the US, many of the cars on Ebay are sold with salvage titles or rebuilt titles. The provenance of these cars may be highly suspect.

For the above insights - I rate Ebay a STRONG SELL and a possible CRASHER IN FUTURE

Unfortunately stock investors are a greedy lot. Just as greedy as the management at eBay.

That's right. The investors only look at the numbers on the balance sheet. They don't care if eBay is raping it's customers to get the books balanced. They don't care about the future, they only live for the moment.

Sadly, if you read the recent thread posted here, you will see that an analyist at Citigroup has upgraded eBay stock to buy status.
